Waiting...

2004
Born in Georgia on June 14, 2004. He weighs 6lbs. 6ozs. 18 1/2 inches long. He looked just like his father!

Today I got the call from the genetics doctor. I stood alone in my bedroom as she said: "He has a rare genetic disorder called cytochrome C oxidative deficiency. We can't cure it and we can only treat the symtoms. He has a few weeks, maybe a few months...if that."

Sept. 9
Connor was brought home. It was stressful but we had decided thta he was not going to stay at the hospital any longer than he had to. I was detremined that we were going to be a family.

Sept. 11

Connor was dedicated

Oct. 4
Connor was Baptized at Scottish Rite. His Patron Saint is St. Fancis of Assisi. Connor was in a hospital an hour away and I always had a fear of him dying alone. St. Franics of Assisi mamorial day is Oct. 4th and he his the Patron Saint against dying alone. I took the hint. His God mother is Nisa Kesseler and his Godfathers are Eric Kesseler (unofficially) and Ralph Beard.

Oct. 6, 2004
After a week back in Scottish Rite with a sinus infection Connor passed away on October 06, 2004. Benn and I got to hold him for eight hours and be with him. That was the hardest thing I have and ever will have to do in my life...but I would not have not been there with him for all the world.

We recieved a phone call from Lifelink (organ and tissue donation) and we were told that Connor's heart valves wererequested and sent to Oragan and Ohio for two patients. It is hard to be excited and sad all at once. I miss Connor but I am so glad that even in his short life he could make a difference in two families lives. He is my inspiration. Now we have to wait...it can take several months to several years before we will know anything else about the recipients of Connor's heart valves. We will let everyone know.

We just found that we are expecting! Again this is bittersweet: there is a 25% chance that the same thing could happen in the same time frame; there are no prenatal tests to let us know. We just have to trust God and have faith.
